Before proceeding in deploying the vCenter a separate VM created including the SQL 2012 and DB create to be used as a vCenter DB,
(Detailed Post will be coming soon about installing SQL 2012 and Create the DB for the vCenter)
Installing the vCenter 5.5 will consist of following:
vCenter Single Sign On
vSphere Web Client
vCenter Inventory Service
vCenter Server
vCenter Single Sign-On Select the vCenter Single Sign-On and Click Install

Click Next


This is our first vCenter and we will chose the first option

This the the SSO Password

Provide the Site Name, For Example (HQ Site)

HTTPS Port that will be used for the SSO, by Default its 7444

Chose the installation destination Folder and Click Next

Provided Information Summery, Click Install

Wait until installation finish

Click Finish

Installing vSphere Web Client
In Version 5.5 all new features is available only through the Web Client, to login to vCenter using the Web Client follow the following procedure:
Open a Web browser and Enter the URL for the vSphere Web Client: https://client-hostname:port/vsphere-client, By default the port is 9443, but this can be changed during vSphere Web Client installation.
To begin the installation Select the vSphere Web Client and Click Install

Click Next

Chose the installation destination Folder and Click Next

Enter the SSO Password you already set when installing the SSO and Click Next

Install Certificate

Click Install

Wait until installation finish

Click Finish

Installing vSphere Inventory Service
Starting From Version 5.1 VMware released the Inventory Service and its mainly used by the vSphere Web Client, its remove the workload from the vCenter Service and its improved the process of searching and browsing inside the vCenter Environment, it could be offloaded to a separate server and This can reduces the traffic and improves response times.
To Begin the Installation Select the vCenter Inventory Service and click Install

Click Next

Accept the Licenses Agreement and click Next

Chose the installation destination Folder and Click Next

Enter the FQDN for the vCenter Server

Choose Appropriate Ports

Choose the Size of the Inventory

Enter the SSO Password you already set when installing the SSO and Click Next

Click Install

Click Finish

Installing vCenter Server
We need first to configure ODBC Data Source to connect to the vCenter DB located in the MS SQL VM,
First Click the System DSN Tap and Click Add

Chose SQL Server Native Client 11.00, you need to install SQL Server 2012 Native Client before this step
SQL Server 2012 Native Client

x64 Package http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=239648&clcid=0x409

Enter the Name and Description for your Data Source (Your DB name that you already configured in the SQL Server)
Select the SQL Server containing the vCenter DB from the dropdown menu, then click next

To Begin the Installation Select vCenter Server and Click Next

Click Next

Accept the License Agreement and click Next

Your created Data Source will appear in the dropdown menu, select and click Next

If you used SQL Authentication you will need to provide User name and password, on my setup I used Windows Authentication and its already configured
Click Next

Choose your service Account, I used Normal domain account and I make it Local admin to the vCenter machine

Select Create a standalone VMware vCenter Server instance as this is the First vCenter,
Click Next

Choose you Ports, leave it to default or change it if needed
Click Next

Choose the Size of the Inventory

To Register the vCenter Server with the SSO, Enter the SSO Password you already set when installing the SSO
Click Next

Confirm the Administrator Account in your vCenter Server

Leave to default and Click Next

Chose the installation destination Folder and Click Next

Click Finish

In the Next Post I will Install the vCenter in the Second Site in Linked Mode
