Before we can step forward to the next step which will be Configuring the Array Manager we need to install and configure the Storage Replication Adapter (SRA)
Our SAN is EMC and the replication software used is SRDF so we need to login to myvmware we site and download the SRA Adapter and install in both Sites SRM VM`s
Locate the Source, Double Click, you will get the following Error

In order to install the SRA you need first to install EMC Solution Enabler 32 bit(X86)
Take Care: Don’t use the 64 bit Version as it’s the version to be used by the SAN Admin on his Array controller Server
The 32 bit version is only a library so SRM can understand and communicate with the SAN Array Manager commands
Download the EMC Solution Enabler 32 bit(X86) and Double Click to Install
Review Version Overview and Click Next

Set the location of the Installation and click next
Choose Typical and click next
I have been advised by the EMC SAN Admin that this selections is enough
Click Install
Click Finish
Now we can Install the SRDF SRA, Locate the Source and Double Click to Install,
Click Next
Accept the License Agreement and Click Next
Review and Click Install
Click Finish
If every this is healthy you should see the following in both sites on the SRA tab (Status: OK)

Now it’s the time to connect the SRM to the SAN Array Manager,
From the same Menu of (Array Manager) and from the Getting Started Click on Add an Array Manager
Give it a Display Name (Friendly name) and Select the SRA from the Drop down menu
Click Next

Because we are adding the Array manager for the HO so the IP address of the (Protection Site SYMAPI) will be the IP of the SAN Array Manager in HO and the (Recovery Site SYMAPI) will be the IP of the SAN Array Manager in DRC,
Click Next
Click Finish
Now we can find that the array manager has been added,
Check Ping Sent and Ping Result to make sure that every thing is healthy

We will do the Same with the other site but the IP address will be changed during the Wizard,
After adding both sites we can see the Following, showing the Array`s with its names,
All we need is to Enable Array Pairs,
If every thing is ok from the SAN Side we shouldn’t face any issues here ,,,, IF

what about the License for the DR site ? is it will be the same for the primary site?

SRM Is licensed per Protected VM,
Which mean if you have 25 machines in HO Site and you want to protect them, you will need licenses for 25 machines only not 50,
For the second question, you need to have vCenter in each site,
ReplyDeleteyou need to make resource mapping between Hosts to Hosts, Clusters to Clusters, Network to Network, Storage to Storage,
